Jaguar Men’s Basketball Remains Red Hot.

South Alabama Jaguar men’s basketball remains red hot. The Jaguars came away with their second straight 30 plus point victory. South humiliated first place Southern Miss on Thursday winning by 31. The Jags took it one step further by beating the Warhawks of Louisiana Monroe by 36 points, the final 81-45. Which was the Jaguars largest Sun Belt Conference victory in 15 years when the Jaguars beat Ex-Sun Belt member Denver by 38 ( 71-33)

To make the accomplishment even more memorable. It happened on Senior Day.

The Jags got off to a slow start, which hasn’t been the case for the pat hand full of games. South was down 6 points 10-4 at the 13;29 mark of the 1st half. After a timeout where Coach Richie Riley challenged his team, they responded by going on a 15-0 run. During that run the Jags would both tie the game at ten at the 12:20 mark and balloon a lead to 9 points 19-10 with 9:39 remaining in the 1st half. South would continue to build on the lead getting it as high as 25 with 2;03 remaining in the half. That lead would stay nearly intact as the Jags led by 24 at halftime 44-20.

In the second half it was more of the same. South Alabama kept its foot on the gas. The lead would increase throughout the rest of the game. It would get as high as 39 with 1:37 left to play, before ending the game as a 36 point victory.

The Jags were led by…

Greg Paham II- who came off the bench and, played 25 minutes had 19 points and 1 rebound.

Jamar Franklin- who also came off the bench, and played 23 minutes had 12 points and 3 rebounds.

Judah Brown- who got the start had 12 point (all from behind the 3 point line) with 2 rebounds and played 25 minutes.

Owen White had 10 points and 9 rebounds

Isaiah Moore- finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds

South Alabama shot 56.1 % overall and 50% from behind the 3 point line.

The Jaguars improved their record to 15-14 and 8-8 in the conference. South Alabama has won 4 in a row and 7 out of their last 8. The Jags have climbed in the standings and would now be the 7th seed in the tournament, if it was played today. They are getting hot at the right time.
