Jaguar softball wins late on a Victoria Ortiz two run home run. The final 2-1 versus Texas State. The win by the Jags extended their win streak to seven games.
How it happened
Texas State jumped on the board first, in the bottom of the second, with one run on a bases loaded single. Jags trailed 1-0.
That score would hold all of the way until the top of the seventh. Mackenzie Brasher would single to right to lead off the inning. That would bring Victoria Ortiz to the plate with nobody out. Ortiz would hit a 2 run home run to left field. Jags lead 2-1. Sasha Willems would ground out for the first out. Odalys Cordova would strike out and Gabby Stagner flied out to right field, for the third out.
Texas State would go quietly in the bottom of the seventh.
Key Stats
The Jaguars only had two hits in the game, both came in the top of the seventh inning.
Olivia Lackie would go the distance and pick up the win improving her record to 10-4 overall. Lackie gave up one run on six hits, striking out five and walking one.
The Jaguars improve their overall record to 21-9 on the year and 4-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.
