Jaguar softball uses a big inning to comeback in sweep. The final score Jags win 9-5, sweeping Georgia State in the Sun Belt opening series.
Things started off promising for the Georgia Stare Panthers. They jumped out to a big lead early, scoring three in the top of the first inning and two in the top of the second inning. Jags trailed 5-0.
In the bottom of the second, South Alabama would get the offense going. Victoria Ortiz would lead off the inning with a triple, that would bring Gabby Stagner to the plate. Stagner would rip a two run home run to left center. Jags trailed 5-2. Odalys Cordova would line out and Emma Kropp popped out for the second out of the inning. After a Bailey Welch walk, Mandy Sims would hit into a fielders choice to end the inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Jags unloaded on the Panthers. Meredith Keel walked on 4 pitches. Mackenzie Brasher and Sasha Willems both singled to load the bases for the Jaguars with nobody out. Ortiz would come to the plate, and hit the first pitch she sees for a two RBI single to center field. Jags trailed 5-4. Just two pitches later, Stagner would double to left field scoring two more. The Jags would lead 6-5. After a pitching change for Georgia State, Cordova would hit the first pitch from Doolittle to second base for a single. Kropp would come to the plate with two on and still nobody out. Kropp would smack a 3 run home run to right center field. The Jags would lead 9-5. The inning would come to an end after Welch grounded out, Sims reached on an error but was thrown out at 2nd trying to advance, and Keel grounded out.
That turned out to be all the Jaguars would need.
