Jaguar baseball gets the win versus New Orleans in a midweek game. The final score was 10-7.
New Orleans would get a solo home run in the top of the first.
In the bottom of the first the Jags would answer back. Erick Orbeta would lead off the game, hitting a double on the second pitch. Colson Lawerence would ground out to second, advancing Orbeta to third on the play. With one out Will Turner would ground out to first base, picking up the RBI as Orbeta scored. Bell would strike out and Joseph Sullivan would ground out to end the inning. Jags and New Orleans tied at 1 each.
In the top of the 3rd inning UNO would pick up 2 runs and lead 3-1.
The Jags would respond in a big way in the bottom of the 4th. After a Diego Altamirano ground out, Austin Thrasher would get his first hit in a Jaguar uniform, a single to left. DK Donaldson would strike out for out two, bringing up Orbeta. Erick walked on four pitches. After a UNO pitching change, Lawerence would walk to load the bases. Will Turner would come to the plate with two outs and the bags full of Jags. Turner would hit a two RBI single to right and advance to second on the throw home. JG Bell would step up and hit a two out, two RBI double to left center, scoring Turner and Lawrence. That would bring up Sullivan who would slap an RBI single up the middle. Jags lead 6-3
That score would hold up until the top of the eighth inning when New Orleans would score 3 runs to tie the game 6-6.
In the bottom of the eighth the South Alabama would answer again. After Bell grounded out to third base for the first out. Sullivan would single to right and steal second. Donaldson would be hit by the pitch. Altamirano would come up with one out and two on, singling up the middle to load the bases. That would bring up Austin Thrasher who would destroy the 3-2 pitch over the wall in left for a GRAND SLAM. Jags lead 10-6. After Donaldson grounded out to first for out two of the inning. Orbeta, Lawerence, and Turner would all single to load the bases again. JG Bell would then fly out to right ending the inning.
In the top of the ninth UNO would get one more run and trail 10-7, but that’s as close as they would get. Jags won final 10-7.
Grant Wood picks up the win he is 2-0 on the season. Wood pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 1 strikeout, walking one.
The Jaguars improve to 7-6 overall.

The Jags travel to Jacksonville State this weekend for a three game series. Then the Jaguars will return home for a big game vs Alabama on Tuesday March 14th.
