Jaguar baseball gets blown out versus the Eagles of Georgia Southern. The final score score 11-1. The Jaguars extended their losing streak to 5 games. The Jaguars will try to avoid the sweep and get back to winning tomorrow.
How it happened
South Alabama got down early again. Georgia Southern would score, one run in the second. Three runs in the third, and two runs in the 4th. The Jaguars found themselves down 6-0 headed into the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning. Colson Lawrence singled through the left side. After Mitchell Heer fouled out and Erick Orbeta flied out. JG Bell would come to the plate. Bell singled to center field. Putting runners on the corners with two outs. Will Turner would step to the plate, Turner would walk to load the bases. Trey Lewis would then reach base on catcher’s interference. That would score Lawrence, and the bases remained loaded. Joseph Sullivan then popped out to second ending the inning. Jags trailed 6-1
That would be all of the scoring the Jags would do for the game. Georgia Southern would go one to score, two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and two in the eighth. For the 11-1 final.

Ben Johnson got the win for Georgia Southern. His record improved to 4-1.
Mitchell Gross picked up his second save.
Gehrig Conrad took the loss for the Jaguars. His record dropped to 0-4 on the year. Going four innings giving up 6 runs (3 earned) striking out five and walking three
JG Bell went 3 for 5. (The Jags as a team had six total hits)
The Jaguars bullpen was not good today. Diaz walked three in 1/3 of an inning. Jackson Boyd went 2 2/3 innings, giving up three runs, striking out three, walking one. Tyler Smith faced three batters, and didn’t record an out. He gave up two unearned runs on three hits. Walker Johnson probably pitched the best, going one inning walking one and striking out one.
South Alabama’s record drops to 8-11 overall and 0-2 in the Sun Belt Conference.
