Jaguar Women’s Basketball Loses In Sun Belt Tournament

Jaguar women’s basketball loses in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament, ending their season. The final score 59-44. This was the second straight year the Jags exited the tournament in the 1st round.

Both teams would start out quietly. Georgia State would lead 5-0, with 5:48 left in the 1st quarter. The Jaguars would tie it 7-7 with 3 minutes left in the quarter. South Alabama would lead Georgia State after the 1st quarter, 12-8.

That would be as good as things would get for the Jags. South Alabama would not score until the 7:14 mark in the 2nd quarter. The Jaguars would be outscored 21-9 in the 2nd quarter, trailing at halftime by 8 points 29-21.

It would be more of the same in the third quarter. The Jaguars would be outscored 17-8 by the Panthers and trail by 17. The Jaguars would win the 4th quarter. but only by two, 15-13.

South Alabama was led by…

Sun Belt Freshman Of The Year, Kelsey Thompson scored 16 points and 3 rebounds while recording her 14th double figure game of the season

Kiana Anderson had 13 points and 3 rebounds.

The Jags would shoot 25% for the game and 15.4% from behind the 3 point line. South got outscored in the paint 36-16 and 13-3 off of the bench.



The Jaguars would end their season with an overall record of 7-23 and just 3-15 in the Sun Belt.
